I have a storage cupboard in an old warehouse. There is room for things (rats or mice) to get under the door and the warehouse is located by Docks so I expect there are a lot of vermin about. I've even noticed a lot of traps and bait in the storage warehouse. I'm a little bit paranoid that things are gonna get into the cupboard and start shredding the cushions, is there anywhere I can buy bait or mousetraps to put in the storage cupboard? would you recommend it?

Find out if the bait in the warehouse is being put down by a pest control firm and ask them if they can put some in your cupboard. If not any hardware shop or garden centre can supply either poison or traps (either the ones that kill or the ones that just trap them, although if you let them go they will only come back!).

I think that as you are in a dock area you will be very lucky to clear them completely as they will keep breeding and coming back, so I think its an ongoing thing. We have our very own 'pest person' on here, so I am sure Ratter will have some good advice.

Hi Scouse, are we talking about commercial premises, if so you would be better to seek the advice and a visit by a reputable Pest Control Company as there are legal issues etc, you can buy very good rat poison from most garden centres look for a product called "Sorexa" or for mice "Sorexa CD" these are professional products and the best you can buy on the open market. Traps are not really the answer as generally they will only catch the immature rats and mice leaving the adults to carry on breeding. You could also maybe try and limit the gap under the door to help to deter rodents, preferably with a metal strip.

It sounds like what you are seeing lying around the place are rat bait stations, this indicates that there is an ongoing contract to sort the problem before it exists, so I dont think you need to worry unduly at this point, a good way to find out if there is rodent activity is to leave a rich tea biscuit on the floor ever few days and see if it has been nibbled during the night.
