For a problem that sounds so serious, you have told us so little, heads cannot crack!! do you mean the skin is splitting?

Tell us more about what you are seeing, and get your dog to the vet first thing in the morning, if its as you say, you will need an emergency appointment!!

I'm confused!!

sorry to be so vague! i mean, in every staffy's lifespan, their heads split or "crack" to accomodate new growth as they grow older, i just dont know what to expect!
You have lost me! are you saying his skull is cracking? how would you know this? You can see this crack in his skull?

Sounds a bit odd to me. From which old wife do you get this information? If , indeed, you find these things occurring to your pet, you may already be too late!!!
As I understand it, head splitting is a strange term given to the maturation of staffies as the muscles on their head go through a growth spurt giving them that heart shaped appearance.
Have you been smoking something you should'nt?
hello mate you are not mad at all, I know what you mean and have heard the term before. As jenky pointed out, the muscles covering the top of your dog's head will look as though they are bulging out as they mature and consequently her lower face will begin to appear smaller as her head "cracks". No need to worry or do anything, it just happens and is fine. Just don't worry.
I have 2 mature Staffs rescued from kennels, and both their heads have split. A friend commented on it the other day. Its all very normal. Although if you are worried about pain etc i would take them to the vet.
