Asthmatic cat?

I've been told by the vet that my cat is asthmatic. She has some steriods which I should give her, but if the coughing symptomps persist she may need an inhaler ! I'm ashmatic myself and often have a to take my inhaler and giving one to my cat seems quite bizarre - has anyone any experience of asthma in cats ?

Depending on the cat inhailers are not to difficult to use. It is usually on a schedule with as needed for fits too. Your vet will sell you a chamber and a anesthetic mask that fits over her face and then you spray the medication and wait for a minute (30 seconds, 8 breaths I can't remember) before you take it off. Sounds simple and some cats don't bother but other cats go crazy when you bring it near. Hopefully the steroids work for you.

I use a range of inhalers with cats and they tolerate it surprisingly well.

You buy a device called a "spacer" whic fits over the end of the inhaler, and has a small clear face mask on the other end which goes over the cat's face. As the previous answer states, you spray the inhaler into the spacer and then allow the cat to breath the drug normally.

They most certainly WOULDN't tolerate the inhaler directly as anyone who remembers the old aerosol flea sprays will remember...
