It's called "feeding the chickens".
Er...feeding the chickens?
I think I know what you mean - You have a bowl of feed in the left arm, and scatter the seed in a dramatic half circle using the right arm, in the style of days gone by - yes?

This is a roundabout way of saying that I'm not aware of any name - sorry.

Broadcasting. Yes , really.To take seed and cas it in an arc, so scattering it widely, is to broadcast it. When radio was introduced the image of dispersing grain in this way, rather than placing the seed bit by bit in neat rows or putting the grain for chickens in a feeder, seemed apt, so the word was taken for transmitting radio programmes to the public .
Thanks Fred (from me, anyway) - the word was buried too deep to drag it out.
