Its not a record, but very late, this is because they have built their nest in a very dry location and kept warm by the roof and the insulation, they will only last a short while longer. These nests in roofs are usually absolutely huge by now, I have dealt with nests in roofs this time of the year that have reached 3ft across.
Thanks - I don't think I mind a wasp nest being there - as they do quite a lot of good in the garden? Or do you think we should be worried and call the council?
I HATE WASPS!!!!!
My kittens found a huge one this morning on my window and were trying to catch it. Luckily I saw it before it hurt them. We often see them,I have been stung in bed in January once.
Just how are they good for the garden,by the way?
Hi - They are critically important in biocontrol - ie they are the dustbin men of the insect world. They eat a lot of bad pests that destroy crops etc and they eat dead things.
