Frog breeding

Every year at about this time I find lots of baby frogs (about 1' long) hopping around behind my garages. The nearest water is about half a mile away. Is it possible that they've made the journey from there (every year ?) or can they be breeding out of water ? I'm puzzled.

My nan used to have an old bucket donn the side of her shed and she used to get frogspawn in it each year. i don't think frogs necessarily need a pond. Anything with a bit of water in it will do. One of your neighbours might have a pond and they could have come from there.

At my workplace a couple of years ago we had a mad mass visit of baby frogs. They came from nowhere and they were EVERYwhere! We never worked out why, only possibility being that field to rear of building was quite marshy and in heavy rain there would be water pools. Going into work was a proper obstacle course!

ONE OF YOUR NEIGHBOURS USED TO HAVE A POND AND FROGS GENETIC HEREDITARY ALOWS THEM TO RETURN YEAR AFTER YEAR.
