Oligopoly, you really have to be joking!! Is this because of the film Happy Feet?
Hi Oligopoly,

As a special favour, I will allow you you to adopt one of my Penguins. This is a special who just happens to be called "Oligopoly". Unfortunately it lives in the South Pole along with its other friends, and you would have to travel afar to see it, but I can assure you that it is well looked after.

It costs me around 1000 a year to keep it in all its home comforts, but I wouldn't dream of charging you that.

For a yearly payment of 500 I would willingly let you adopt it. I will include all the necessary paperwork and supply you with photographs etc. + anything else that you might require, I will also give you a monthly report on its whereabouts as the South Pole is a vast area.

If you are still prepared to adopt one of my Penguins please reply through this thread.

Regards

a friend of mine has adopted a penguin in the falklands as her christmas gift to her father. If you want me to find out more from her (how to go about it, cost etc) just let me know!

well to be honest i meant whether you could actually buy one to have in your house! i didnt know what conditions are needed etc but i remember going to penguin feeding time at london zoo last summer and then decided i would love one! im guessing they dont need icy conditions all the time - a large freezer would probably be sufficient... i was actually half serious about this question :-)
it would be a nice pet though. I used to love going to Edinburgh Zoo when it was time for the Penguins to go for a walk. All the ones who were going for a walk were lined up at the gate, the others were either busy doing something or deliberating whether they wanted to go for a walk or stay at home instead.

But they stink - worse than wet dog smell.
,
I like the way your added 'as a pet?!' - as if we might think you'd want to eat it or something!!!!

Made me laugh! :o)

yeah Athley - i see what you mean!

well anyways thanks for your answers guys. im guessing i might as well remove Penguin from my letter to santa.

shame - the chicks would have loved it...
I am 43 and have asked for a wolf from Santa every year since I was about 4! What is wrong with asking for a penguin - you won't get it from Santa anyway!
Wolf - santa knows you have cats - he can't possibly give you a wolf it would eat them!!!
nice one Athley - but George the fiend died in May and I am cat-less. I am going to adopt or be adopted by another cat after Christmas.
Oh sorry wolf I didn't know I'm quite a new ABer and have only seen you type about cats fondly I didn't know your little one had passed on to cat heaven.

Good luck with your search for a new one - I'm sure one will find you anyway they usually do!!!

Lots of love
