African Grey Parrots

We are currently fostering an African Grey Parrot, although it is very tame it (we arent sure of the sex) still has a tendancy to bite any part of our body that is near enough to IT! Can anyone shed some light on how to stop it from biting as we are really quite friendly!

i remeber when my african grey was the same at a young age. they start off by nipping and sometimes dont realise they hurt. they do it as a test of some such to scare you, they should stop it soon but dont let it think that you are scared else it tends to get worse

It is absolutely right that young parrots tend to explore their surroundings with their beaks, just like a human baby tries to put everything in it's mouth. However, even a gentle nip from that beak can really hurt soft human skin. You don't say how long you've got this bird for, but if it's for any length of time, you may want to learn how to train it.
