Shortage of Peacock butterflies

Despite having an excelllent summer , does anyone kow why there appears to be an apparent shortage of Peacock butterflies in the UK whilst there has been an abudance of Red Admirals, Painted ladies and Small Tortoise Shells etc.?

I wish I knew junderw2! The hot weather has made this a perfect 'Butterfly Summer' for Marbled Whites, Commas, Red Admirals and Painted Ladies - but I have yet to see a Peacock!

There is certainly no shortage of the main food plant - the tall stinging nettles, or the teazel, so it's a bit of a mystery. They still flutter around long into the Autumn, so I live in hope...still, it would be good to know if there is a definitive answer.
