Can you give more info?

Are you worried about the rest of your goldfish?
How old was it?
How exactly are you changing the water? All of it? Or partial water changes?
Are they in a filtered tank?
What other fish do you have in there?

yes i am worried about the other fish.
i bought the goldfish 5 days ago and i am only changing water once a week but i am changin the water once a week and the tank is unfiltered. i av one fish as my tank only allows me to keep two.
Ok doke....

Goldfish really do need to be in a proper filtered coldwater tank i'm afraid, one with plenty of room.

Their tank water should never be 100% changed, and should always be treated with dechlorinator (I use Tap Safe). Before I got my aquarium, I used to keep say about 20/30% of the old tank water to out in with the clean tank water.

The fresh water that you are putting in should also be the same temperature as the water you're talking out, not freezing cold straight from the tap.

However, despite doing all of the above, fish can and do die for the most unexpected reasons. However I really would invest in a proper coldwater tank for them, they're easily bought cheap(ish) from Ebay.

One last question- did the dead fish look any different? Was it looking bloated? Was it's scales sticking out, looking kinda like a pinecone?

no to all three
i did put tap safe liquid in tank.
there was nothin different to the other fish
Fish do suffer stress when you first introduce them to their new environment, and alot die for no other reason that that.

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it, if you've done all that you could to make their housing adequate- I would however, in your shoes, read some of that website I give you the link for, very informative.
How lucky are you!! I've got two goldfish who are about 12 years old and they seem to be going on forever. Seems I'm the lucky owner of the most geriatric goldfish known to man!!
