Last night my dog pulled out his outside claw on his back right paw. Were taking him to the vet but could someone tell me what will happen to him? Will the claw grow back?

This happened to Che my GSD. unfortunatly they dont grow back. The vet removed the claw on his other leg to balance his looks and gave me a certificate stating why bthe claws had been removed in case I wanted to show or breed him. It didnt affect Che in anyway and he made a fast and complete recovery
We used to have a greyhound whom this happened to all the time. In the end we would only take her to the vet if either, a) the claw was partially pulled out and catching, or b) it didn't appear to be healing.

The vet would quickly remove any 'hanging' claws (with us securing the biting apparatus), then run a quick check to make sure there was nothing infected and all was well with the dog.

Occasionally she'd need a dressing on the wound if she kept biting at it or if it was in danger of getting dirty. The claws invariably grew back over time and there was no lasting damage.
The claw Che lost was a Dewclaw, the ones on the "heel" of the front leg not a main claw sorry for any confusion hope your dog soon gets over it
