Worming rodents
1 Answers
I have a couple of pet rats and chinchillas. All are from rescue centres. Although I can see no sign of worms should they be wormed as a precaution?

Pet rats do not need to follow a worming program (unlike cats and dogs) as there is no way that they could pick up a worm burden. Always consult your vet if you have any concerns - they are always happy to give free advice over the phone. Don't be afraid to contact the rescue center to see if they did give your animals any treatments before you got them - it may help you fill in some history if you do ever need to take them to the vets.
