The Blackbird that can't close it's beak. Having got a closer look it seems to have something stuck in it's throat, at first I thought it was it's tongue but I dont think so now.
Any ideas on how to catch it alive.

I would speak to the RSPCA and see what they recommend- they may even do it for you
Depends on how close you can get to it.

Could try a butterfly net on a long stick, or some sort of large net you could throw over it if you could get close enough.

Some Blackbirds are quite tame so you could try getting some mealworms (from a fishing shop) or some earthworms and holding them in your hand (if you are not to squeemish), or putting them on the ground near to you.

That seems as though it is the problem. I posted my thanks in the wrong place. (It's an age thing)
We'll just have to let nature take it's course.
