I have a friend who has a tuna processing factory in South Africa. He was naval diver in the 80s servicing underwater
monitering equipment off the Cape, he told me about a Gt
white which was nicknamed "The Submarine" he saw it several times and insists it was longer than the service vessel they used which was 7.5 mtrs long. I've known this guy for a long time and he's not one for exaggerating.
billy reid- if that is correct thats some big shark- looks as though the biggest was 6.2m but was never properly measured- thanks to the two previous answers-
i saw one in america - was about 4m long- it was an awesome animal- never seen anything quite like it - one of the best things ive ever seen- if not the best- and got me thinking how big they can get ???
iv got some shark books and theres one in there 27ft long,,,with a mouth the size of a 32 inch tv,swallow ya hole,,,,,,,,the teeth 5inch long 3 inch wide,,,,cut the shape out on a piece of paper,,,,and imagine 200 of them,,,,,if that came towards me id die of heart attack before it got me,,,,
pianoman81,,, I have a photogragh of a Gt White taken last year by a friend of mine who works in the fishing industry as I do. It was hoisted onto the deck of a tuna farm service ship after it drowned in the net of a tuna pen this was off the Pacific coast of Mexico, I would guess this fish to be easily in excess of 6.2 mtrs.
