thanks for your answers but it definitely isnt a newt or salamander just been looking up skinks on a web site and it definitely looks like one but i cant find out if they are in uk or not

The slow worm is the first and has no visible legs so I think we can rule that out. Of the legged lizards there are two, the common lizard and the sand lizard, Lacerta vivipara and Lacerta agilis respectively. If you look either up you will find pictures but if you don't live in the New Forest or Dorset it's unlikely to be the latter. If it's not that anything else and will be an escaped pet.
