Killing roots of Conifer and Escalonia Bushes

I need to kill the roots of one large conifer and one escalonia bush to stop them growing up through cement. Any suggestions on how to do it?

Try root out you can buy it at garden /c at one time wilkinsons used to sell it .We have used it and it worked a treat plus it is harmless to pets and wildlife if used correctly.
