Hi guys, can anyone offer any ideas on my cats behaviour. He is normally a very gental soul, although has always had a killing streak. But he has started attacking his brother, and they have always been really close. A couple of years ago at this time of year he went missing for a week, and I don't know whether it's just spring that is getting him all lively or whether he's not going to tollerate his brother anymore. They are both 4 1/2 and neutered.
When you say attacking what do you mean? I have 3 cats (a brother and sister and their son - incest - I know) and at this time of the year they always fight, screaching really loudly at each other whilst rolling about on the floor, biting and furiously kicking each other. I have always assumed they are just playing. When people come over they look horrified, but after about 5 min they all settle down again and 10 min later are licking and grooming each other hapily.
Hopefully yours are not dissimilar and it's nothing serious.
He's not ripping the other one to bits, just sort of establishing dominance I guess. They've always play-fought, but this just seems very one sided. I do hope it's just high spirits at this time of year, they've always been so close, I will be upset if they start not getting on. x
My 3 are fiercly independent, one of them coincidentally also went missing last year for a week about this time, after reporting him to everyone I could think of and flyering the whole neighbourhood he turned up again, without a care in the world. Offering no explanation either!! ;o)
Lets hope it is simply the frisky spring thing, someone else might have some good suggestions too.....
