I have two friends who both have labradors, and neither of them bark......never ever. Lucky you - mine bark, grunt, sing, whine, in fact anything to attract attention or alert us to something unusual.
hi, i have a 2 year old labrador and she hardly barks either only if some comes to our back gate . i am quite happy about this as there is nothing more annoying than a dog that barks for no reason . so enoy your silent dog lol .
We used to have a Belgian Shepherd Cross who was a rescue dog. He didn't bark at all until about 2 years after we got him when someone rang the doorbell and he suddenly let out a really croaky woof - he scared himself and surprised all of us!
My last staffy (rescue) never uttered a bark until I taught her how (neighbours thought I was a lunatic!) Even then, she'd only bark to please me - never at the door bell or cats or anything. My current two staffies however are VERY vocal, so think that its just really down to personality.
Yes it's fairly normal! Some dogs are less vocal than others. Our Collie has a lot to say if someone is at the door or passing the back gate loudly. However, my partner works nights so I am happy that Jack will alert me to anything unusual he sees/hears/senses.
