With multiple births by most mammals, does each fraternal young have its own placenta or do they all share the one?

They all have their own, and with dogs it is important to make sure each puppy is accompanied (or followed) by the afterbirth, or else it can set up an infection if left inside the bitch. They usually eat them as they are passed with each puppy.
