I keep chickens and so have a rat problem, My Partner has put poison down but they just seem to gobble it up and it has no effect even after a week of feeding them with this stuff, we are now resorting to culling with an air rifle, but still cant get on top of this problem, I have even got a pack of Jack Russells down there but they still keep appearing. I am sure they freak the hens out. Any suggestions

Rat traps? Like mouse traps only bigger. You'll probably be able to buy them where you buy your hen food from.
I tried those rat traps (giant mouse traps) and they didn't work. It slams so hard it almost breaks your finger but "my" rats still managed to get the food trap and not get caught

Most poisons work slowly and they are probably going away to die one by one if they are eating it. Maybe you just have more than you realise?
I agree. Most poisons work slowly.
Also, rats store their surplus food if it is abundant so a lot of poison may disappear but they probably have a stash. If you see one rat, you are likely to have 6 somewhere near.

Most rats are far to intelligent for ordinary rat traps. Poison is still the most efficient way to dispose of the blighters. Have you read the instruction on the bait pack? Some poisons makes them drink to excess and destroys their kidneys. Are you providing some nice water for them?
