How do I stop my neighbour's cat pooping in my garden? The stinky feline isn't even doing it properly and covering it over, and I'm extremely reluctant to start scooping up after someone else's pet... Especially a cat!

There are many kinds of repellants on the market but in the mean time you could try scattering some dead holly leaves around the area where it go's, some people swear this works and it may save you some mony. Good Luck. Tbird+

We had same problem, we had an electric cat scarer, worked well with all cats except one deaf old one. lol.

Unless you have a small garden, none of the deterents work. First take the reasonable step of notifying your neighbour - the cat's owner - that their cat is fouling up your garden and they need to do something about it. What they do is up to them. You shouldn't have to put up with their stinking mess. It is of note that show cats are not allowed to roam. Take a photo of the offended feline in your garden as proof.

If no improvement after say a week, anything that captures your imagination is fair game. Flick the cr@p back over the fence, borrow or hire a cat trap and take it to the RSPCA, one of those motion detecting units that turns the hose on and douses the intruder, anything you like. Just remember that it is not the cat's fault - it does what comes naturally, so don't hurt it. You will probably have an unfriendly relationship with your neighbour but if they are so ignorant and selfish that they deem you to be the rightful recipient of their pet's excrement then they are not worth knowing anyway.

Your neighbour probably doesnt know where their cat is going to the loo,but short of keeping it in the house,theres not a lot they will be able to do.Approach them politely.Suggest that you need to spend money on repellants,they may offer to pay.
Cats hate citrus so try lemon juice.Or try mirrors or tin foil.Seeing their reflection makes them think its another cat,so they will need to find their own `turf`.

Whatever you do, please dont do what our neighbor did, and just put a bag of cat poo on their doorstep.
My partner went to speak to the women & she went off on one at him! Yes, we have 6 cats and a cat, but we also have 3 litter trays and only 2 of our cats go out at a time during the day when we are at work.

The women ranted n raved about a grey cat, only for my partner to stop her and make her aware of the fact we dont have a grey cat! She just assumed it was ours because we live 2 doors down.

We have said to her, if she makes a list of cats she sees going in her garden, and if any of the cats are ours, we will take full responsibilty and pay for & do whatever it takes to try & prevent it.

This happened a couple of months ago, & strangely, we havent heard any more from her!!

wildwood - just what on earth do you expect the cat owner to do? keep the cat in? sellotape it's bum? i really don't know what good you think this will do - cats are free spirits and alerting the owner serves no purpose - they cannot control it where their cat goes to the loo. your advice of a cat trap and taking it to the rspca is downright ridiculous - nothing at all to gain other than wasting your time, the owners time, the rspca's time and stressing out an innocent cat who has no idea that he had caused such offence!
other than tryin the suggested deterrents, there's nothing you can do - it's only a small bit of waste. shame they don't have the luxury of a sewage system like humans - they cannot help it - they have to go somehere. they do use their own gardens too - not just the neighbours.
what about bird poo? it's poo all the same but nobody ever seems to complain about that.

thanks for all suggestions - we aren't looking to make enemies with the neighbour, just trying to deter the pooing! we've got a dog ourselves and know that pets aren't always the best neighbours. I think I'll try the lemon juice thing at the moment, mainly because i have some in my house, and hopefully that'll be the end of it!

you can get cat deterrent from wilkos stores �3.99 a box it works ok for about 1 month then scatter some more down we had a big prob with cats but seems to have cured it also cats dont like short grass (well these don't)
