Does anyone from my generation (Mid 50's) recall seeing a circus act in which an elephant 'drives' a suitably modified motor car?
I recall seeing it in Edinburgh around 1954/1955. Please - if anyone has any such recollections - hopefully with photos (link) please let me know - Thank you in advance of a successful conclusion to my quest.

No, I have never seen that. I am far too young for that.

However, I do believe that an elephant has been trained to drive a pedal car, which you can see here
