My two year tomcat (neutered) has recently killed 3 bluetits that nest in the eaves of our house. He has killed mice and birds in the past. He always wears a collar with a big noisy bell. What else can I do to stop him killing and being his victims home? Thank you.

nothing I'm afraid.

Its a cat's natural instinct to kill small things and bring these "presents" home to you.
ignore him, as BOO says, he is bringing you presents - my cat only ever used to go catch a bird after we had been holiday and he had been in kennels, as if to say thanks for bringing me home! It wasweird, within an hour of being back home he would appear at the back door with a mouthful of something, but never bothered the rest of the year.
Luckily my cat has never murdered anything (so far as I know) and has never brought me a pressie.

My brother has two cats and they are both natural born killers, mice, birds, frogs, you name it - they've killed it and bought it home.

Maybe its because I live in a town centre and the pigeons are just too darn big for my puss...

Other than wearing a bell (which yours does) I don't think there is a way, that's what cats do unfortunately. It's nature!
I am afraid there is nothing you can do to stop a cats natural instinct to kill and hunt for prey. No matter how big/noisey the bell, fact of the matter is cats are very wise creatures and will learn very effectivly to stalk mice and birds so the bell on their collar wont 'tinkle' !
He is giving you presents to say he loves you. Cats will be cats. Is he climbing up under the eaves? If he is, you could put something in his way to deter him.
www.spuk.com (or uk?) bit weird though
Sadly, as the others have said, this is what cats do and it's never pleasant. There are a lot of very young birds out there and they are fairly easy pickings at the moment. Your cat is just bringing food home for you so he's not doing wrong in his eyes at least.
Why would you try to stop it doing what is the most natural thing in the world for him.

Of course its hard on the bird population but the biggest killer of song birds in this country is domestic cats, yours is just adding to the numbers!!

If you have a cat at least let it behave in a natural way when it is outside!!

Thanks for all your replies.

It seems from what you say he is only doing what comes naturally. Maybe he should eat his prey, then I could save some money on cat food lol.
