any old wives tales how to make conkers better for playing conkers with.
i have heard that if you pass one through a pig this works really well but how do you get the pig to eat it without chewing it

Soak them in vinegar over night???

soaking in vinegar was the favorite, but dont forget to make the hole first

we used to coat ours a few times in clear nail varnish to toughen them up - but as you say, this may be old wives tale!

we would soak them in vinegar overnight and then put them in the oven for a short burst of heat to really harden them to champion conkers . Making sure the oven isn't too hot though or they will just crack open . :-)
