Field Mice

I have a family of Field Mice in my shed,
They come out to feed from the Bird feeders.
Can you tell me any problems with having any type of Mice in your Garden

they will breed like wildfire, especially if you let them eat food that is plentiful, you will soon have a shed full. don't know if they cause any disease, but if a couple get into your house they will eat and chew anything they can, including electric wires. you could buy one of those humane traps and catch them, take them a couple of miles away and let them go.

Others may have a different view to me, but in the garden, not really a problem, but the very real problem is that they will find their way into the house, and bring various infections with them.

I would be quite interested to know how you get on philbo, as we have inherited a pair of Wood Mice from the previous house owner and at the moment they keep to the garage and garden....

I happened to see on Springwatch during the week that mice can produce a litter of 10 little uns every 21 days. If that is the case, your nice little family could turn into an invasion pretty soon!

Lets be a little realistic, if they are in the shed and not doing any harm, leave them. Just be aware that they will chew anything they come across. as long as the shed isn't too close to the house they are unlikely to invade the house unless you have a cat to bring them in (yes cats cause many mouse problems by bringing them in alive and losing them)

They may increase slightly in numbers but as long as the shed is reasonably tidy and not too much bedding material or food, live and let live!!

Wash hands thoroughly after touching anything in the shed, just basic hygiene!!

philbo - field mice maybe ok, but if there much bigger cousins call round and decide to settle in - then you will have problems.
