Our local dog rescue centre is always full of dog of all ages (though not cute pups), including a surprisingly high number that are obviously pedigree. Some have problems that need working on before they can be re-homed but most are readily re-homeable if only there were sufficient prospective homes for them. However, the council dog wardens keep bringing in unclaimed strays.
are you able to be at home with the bitch and the puppies for at least the first four weeks, preferably until they go to their new homes? Do you have a good knowledge of whelping puppies, or someone close to you that does in the case of everything not going to plan? Again I ask is she a particularly good specimen of the breed, and the homes that are waiting why do they particularly want a puppy from your bitch. Sorry for the third degree, but whelping puppies is not as easy as some people think, you have to be prepared for problems, even losing some of the puppies, mother losing milk, hand rearing puppies and feeding them every two hours day and night - and mother may have problems and have to have a c section which would result in a hefty vet bill.
