My Friends cat has just been spayed and the vet has told her to keep her in for 2 weeks, i thought it was less than this, as when i had my cat done the vet said to keep her in for 1 week, i know all vets work differently but an extra 7 days is quite a big difference?

Exactly, i think her cat will be climbing the walls, shes so used to going out, shes already sitting at the window meowing her poor little head off.
keeping a male in after neutering and a female in after speying is a different situation, as the operate to remove male 'bits' is a lot simpler than opening up a female to effectively give them a hysterectomy. No harm in taking the vets advice, it wont do her any harm.
