my dog is barking when any one moves how can we stop him barking so much and also eats the letters if we dont get there first

I watched a programme last week "It`s me or the dog" about 2 yorkies who did this...Victoria Stilwell the dog trainer stepped in and said in a loud posh voice "Thank You" to the dogs when someone rang the doorbell....the dogs stopped barking,turned around and ran to her and she gave them a treat....I tried it with my dog and it works
