rabbit loosing fur

My friends rabbit has started to lose his fur in patches all over his back. This morning there were lots of earwigs in his cage!!! She has treated his cage with a spray for mites etc but wondered if there was a reason as to why his fur has started to come out??

see a doctor at the vet it could be serious or make it have sex
