Mild winters have recently caused an increase in numbers. But immature crane flies (leatherjackets) can be killed off by a hard frost. Maybe this is what's happened in your area.

Funny, I had forgottwn about the amount of daddy long legs that were around last year.
The houses were full of them and they were everywhere. I too have only seen one this year. Thank goodness!
