Goldfish

My goldfish has a lump on it' side by his fin does anyone know what it could be please,its like an open sore.

If it is open and not looking fungal, it sounds as though it has a protozoan infection. You can buy tratments for this at the pet shop but it is important to treat the tank over several days as the culprits are only vulnerable to treatment at certain points in their life cycle. I always use 'Protozin' but that's just habit, there may be better stuff available.
