Huge spider
14 Answers
Hi folks.
Does anyone have a fear of spiders like myself.
I can deal with anything I am hit with in this world, but got up this morning to be faced with the biggest spider I have ever seen. I mean HUGE! I was terrified, tried to igore it but it's image was implanted in my brain by that time.
I was forced to waken hubby to deal with it before I got ready for work and even he was amazed at it's size. He will not kill them so managed to put it out in the garden. been having panic feelings all day just thinking about it
Where on earth do they come from?
Never want to see a spider that size again.

Hi Cruella, yes I agree I am absolutely terrified of them! to the extent that seeing one sends me into a hyperventilating state of terror and there is no way I can go anywhere near one. I know my fear is irrational and would love to get help but this would have to be free of charge and local to me and I don't think that kind of help is available so I just suffer!!!
I hate them too, Get this right. Me and my friend were lay on my bed watching tv when she sent me down to get the takeaway menus. I came back up just to see the hugest spider i have ever seen (seriously must of been the size of the palm of my hand) crawling across my pillow where I was sat literally seconds before! I screamed, she screamed and ran out and I was left there tackling the thing before it went missing else id never of slept in here again hahaha!got it was awful it bounced off the bed and everything *heaves*
My dog often sees one before I do and she loves to play with them. She amazes me how she can pick it up and toss it and have it in and out of her mouth several times and yet the poor shocked spider still crawls off with all it's legs still intact . Wonderful how a 46 kilo lab can crunch hard food through a very strong jaw and yet have such a soft mouth when playing .:-) xx
Morning, girls! I used to be terrified of them as well, but wasn't too bad with the little ones so, much to hubby's horror, I got myself a baby tarantula, thinking that if ahe grew up with me, I could get over my fear! She was tiny when I got her & had to feed her on fruit flies, but she grew to be as big as my hand & lived for 10yrs. Hubby always hated her, but it cured me & now I'm fine with them, so long as they don't surprise me. An empty jam jar & a bit of card come in handy for catching without hurting them & then pop'em outside. They'll probably come back, though.....!! K
Ha, ha, hello all. The spider in question sounds like the Giant House Spider. It makes its funnelled webs in areas rarely disturbed, e.g. attics and garages etc. The females have larger bodies but smaller legs than the male of the species, whose legs can reach up to 75mm! It sounds like you spotted an amorous male who was in search of a mate.
I'm frightened of spiders to the degree where my whole body locks up and i make an odd growling/whining sound when I see one of the aforementioned species, ever since I was bitten by one a couple of years ago; I've held tarantulas since then and have been fine with them. Odd...

HI to all spider scaredy cats (myself included) - a tip to keep them out of your house - and it really works - is to put some conkers in the corner of each room. Apparently they don't like horsechestnut smell and it keeps them out. In 3 years since doing this I've only had 2 beasties which isn't bad considering how many I used to get.
