kitten bengal

I would like your opinions on bengal kittens as pets and their
A)Personality (I hear some can be very non-domesticated and chew through stuff, for a 4th removed breed)
B)The possible markings available
C)The health issues (like the heart muscle issue which is heredetory) to how to handle kittens with diabetes
and what I should look out for when getting that new "member of the family" certs etc etc
D)Good honest breeders you have come across that are not just out for a sale.
If you've got one tell me your story and send me some picks and your opinions on whether it is safe to leave them for a period of 7hours a day. It will be kept as a home kitten as we live on an estate dominated by cats and im scared of the fights. Also if I were to get one now could I introduce a newborn baby in 2-3years time?
Thanks, K
Thanks-you Kim

I absolutely love the look of these cats, and a friend of mine has one. They are like baby leopards lol.... and his one is rather large and can be quite scary..... tends to hiss and growl at other men, and they really are powerful cats.... so letting one out??? hmmmm.... don't think the neighbourhood will have many cats left......
Nice piccy....

They do get rather large (not sure if that much bigger than Maines) hehe... hence me wanting one for my Dobe.... my Burmese cross gives him what for and once she's passed... hopefully not for??????? years......
I shall consider a Bengal.
p.s Kim. Cats do need to be kept outta bubbys room. They seek heat. And mine for sure.... will lay on your face.

I have a 2 year old Bengal cat called Bob, had him brought as a present from my boyfriend. He is extremely handsome, has a lovely coat and looks stunning. For this reason and others he is an indoor cat. For one we live in the city, on a busy road, secondly, he is only small and there are some very large and feisty tabby cats nearby (!) and thirdly, he looks so beautiful I'm frightened of someone stealing him or worse.
Personality wise he's very loving and like a dog in some respects (comes running to greet you and licks you!) and will happily sit on my knee for tickles. However, initially he was very destructive and naughty (which can be typical I believe of the breed). He broke numerous glasses, shredded the settee, pulled threads in the curtains and actually pulled every bauble off the christmas tree amongst other things! After lots of suggestions (that didnt really work) we came to the conclusion that he must be lonely so we got another kitten (an exotic who are reknowned for their placid temperament) and he has calmed down so so much. they get on extremely well and it really is the best thing we could have done. Now Bob appears happy and content and most of his destructive tendancies have gone! Am not trying to put you off, just giving you a clear picture! He is absolutely adorable though and gives us hours of entertainment. Oh and they can be extremely vocal, not good if you live in a flat!

cheers diamond-chic.
I think it'll be best to have 2 too. I am still concerned about having babies in a few years time but as I was told they only go to babies rooms for warmth Ive seen a thing you can hang on heaters for them to sleep in, and they'll always have access to my room for warmth should they need it. Thank-you for warning me of the issues with only having one. I dont want s/he to be lonely. I want to get one from respectable breeds. Ill look at the website beryllium posted and hope you enjoy browsing too. Would you ever have more? I hear some people end up with "11 cats",...

hello wolf, sorry i didnt get back to you. If Im honest I only had a kitten, my first and only real pet and her name has Millie. She was EXACTLY like the Felix cat advert, only she had a black dot on her pink nose. I used to kneel down and get low to the ground, like a cat watching its prey, stare at her head-on and shed stare at me head-on (mirror image like).
Id wiggle my bum, she'd wiggle hers, and then id duck and she'd run and wrap herself around my hair. She was fascinated by it and she'd try chewing it and Id just lay there giggling. Then in some instances Id stand up, full-length mirror behind me, her in the hallway, and Id call her. Then Id stare her down. She'd get closer and closer then sit about a foot away. We'd play the staring game a little longer then Id blink and turn my back, like a woman in disgust, and see her run at me, straight up my back onto my shoulders (although Id have to bend my back at the point I felt she'd fall (or hurt me)) and then she'd nuzlle me and I'd love her back. Its funny when at xmas she got a carrier bag handle round her neck and was runnign down the hall trying to get away from the sound of loud rustling and I had to stop her and calm her down. She was scared...
Barr Millie, and hamsters of which Ive now got three ******:white, buttons:milk and chocolate coloured and scamp:Dark chocolate and runt of litter loosing fluff due to squabbling...Ive never had any other real pets. Maybe hamsters dont seem such real pets to me as they all seem to die on me at 3 years of age, when my first one died I was heart-broken and none's ever really hurt like that did. It had a water infection from the dispenser bottles and It'd gone into hibernation whilst the infection took affect, so when I tried to bring it round, how my mother told me to it started to cross its hind legs and heave and we had to have it out down. Ive sworn these are my last hamsters now.
Must sleep as its now 22.00pm. Night
