pugs tail

i have a two year old pug ***** tzu cross and to look at him you would think he was all pug,over the last few days his curled tail has become stright and is shaking and it is definatly not a wag,he has become quiet and withdrawn.I am just wondering if anyone could tell me if he could have injured his tail ,i do have a vets appointment ,but im still quite worried.thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Could be something referred to as 'cold tail' although that is usually seen in breeds like Labradors that have been swimming. It is where the nerves are blocked and there appears to be no feeling in it and it hangs limp and lifeless for a few hours/days.
I am sure your vet will be able to tell you, although it does sound as though he is in some discomfort. Hope its not anything to do with his spine, as pugs do suffer from a condition which affects the vertebrae.

The condition I was thinking of is hemivertebrae. Loked this up and found this:
The probable cause of hemivertebrae is a lack of blood supply causing part of the vertebrae to not form. Hemivertebrae in dogs are most common in the tail, resulting in a screw shape, but can also occur in the thoracic vertebrae. Affected dog breeds include Bulldogs and French Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers.
