You can't- and in all fairness you shouldn't try. It's your mums house therefore if she doesn't want one, that should be the end of the matter.
Do what I did as a youngster - offer to walk other people's dogs for them, provided your mum knows them and doesn't mind.
Excellent idea from lankeela and you might even make a bit of pocket money.
Dogs are gorgeous creature but very hard work. It doesn't stop at just buying one or rescuing one, you have to take account of vets fees and food etc, perhaps that may be why she is reluctant.
Don't try and convince her, you could always go to the local rescue kennels and volunteer, they welcome anyone to walk the dogs.
Is it because in another part of the site, you say she's an alcoholic?
amonty - whilst your first answer is excellent, I find your second one rather offensive and irrelevant. dollypink has asked a sensible question which we have all tried to answer, personal circumstances are none of our business.

Parents often have reasons for things that they don't always want to tell their children. I have said this to my kids - I might sometimes say no and not give what you think are good reasons, but I have my reasons and will stick to my answer.
hi my mum didnt want a dog iv always wanted one,but i got one in the end,i always walked other peoples dogs worked in kennels just to be around them to show how much i loved them, have you thaught of adboting one for a year i.e guide dog puppy just to see how you get on,getting my dog was the best thing that ever happened and al the hard work of training her was amazing dog behavoiur is a good one if you evenly get one.in the dogs home you can have a trail run with the dog that is matched to you with the help of the kennel workers if every thing goes through first look into maybe with your mum,& it is always good for a dog to have its own space (left) i leave my bitch a couple of hours each day & she always happy to see me at the end of the day big walk after....michelle

Sorry lankeela, wasn't being persoanl, however if her mum is struggling with an alcohol addiction then she probably doesn't want another responsibility.
Also I did wonder about the genuineness about the 2 posts together, just suspicious I guess. Especially as no replies since.
Well I see dollypink has also asked about an address for an audition, so may she is not as young as we were probably all assuming.

If thats the case, dollypink will you be at home much longer, as you may be able to have a dog of your own if you have your own home, on the other hand, is it fair to get a dog and then maybe have to leave it at home if you move away?

Just shows how we can easily assume things and either upset the poster or each other!
dollypink, are you related to ladypink (or even one and the same?)
