alternatively we used to keep a watering can full of water and put on the area immediately afterwards, but with more than one dog, this proved difficult. A friend of mine has a wonderful green lawn and when I asked how he kept it so green, it said it was because it was more weeds than grass.

I've seen things called 'Dog Rocks' advertised, you put them in your dogs drinking dowl and it's supposed to stop the urine turning the grass yellow.
I've found the website for them here: http://www.dogrocks.co.uk/
But you can also buy them at pet stores. I never seen them used, so no idea as to how effective they are - if you do try them, maybe let us know if they worked?
