I was just looking at Jillius's post about a name for the new laborador, and wonder how you all chose your pets names.
We thought our kitten was going to be tortoise shell, so decided on Tori before we even saw her - turns out she's actually a black and silver tabby, but kids had thought long and hard so we stuck with that name.
My sisters cat which she had for about 17 years was called Flap - as in cat flap!
We did have fish called Buzz, Woody and Zurg a few years back - kids were Toy story fans!

Right I will start with my three cats [oldies now] Mickey and Rooney named after the film star they are brothers and then there is Rastaz he came in the cat flap fifteen years ago ate the other twos food used the cat litter and has been with us ever since he looked such a rogue we thought the name suited him. The two dogs are called Mick and peggy they are brother and sister mick is a boy with an attitude and peggy is a little yapper so we thought of peggy mount who was a very loud comic actress some years ago. With the g/pigs it was Iggy and Wiggy just thought it suited them both.
For our dog we looked around on sites for names, and we found Ashke that according to the site meant the russian god of love, we dont even know if we say it correctly! (we say Ashka) but it suits him perfectly and i havent heard of any other dog/cat named it!
Our cats
Sammy - named after my teddy bear ive had since a kid
smokie - i was listening to smokie at the time and he was all black
Spinks - was called Atari butforsome reason she was called spinks as a nickname and it stuck!
Kacey - have always adored the name!
Splodge - black andwhite with a big black splodge on his nose!
Leo - he has a white mane, the tip of his tail is white and he has a huge mouth so he is Leo (as in the lion!)
Cefa - was tricky, until someone said call her Cefa as in Cefa Clover as she is so lucky (she was going to have a leg amputated at2weeks but then didnt have to!)
Hamster is Lexi because i again, love the name! :)

Are these cats you've got now, or over the years wiggal. Its such a lot!!!
My cat was R2D2 before he died, (R2 for short) - and we had a goldfish called Dave for a number of years...
fathead, they are all pets we have now :)
We adopted our lovely 14 year old cat Yasmin from a friend of a friend. The friend was a model, and had called Yasmin after Yasmin Le Bon. Unfortunately, after a certain unfemale appendage appeared,we realised Yasmin was male!!!..We'd already bonded with him as Yasmin..so,thats his most unmale name lol !!
Hello , well first I guess was the black rabbit , Liquorice , chosen due to her colour.
One of the hamsters , Cocoanut , again due to colouring.
A guinea pig , Speckles , mainly because of his speckled coat but also because he had a colour ring round both eyes which made him look as though he was wearing glasses.
Now I have a black labrador , Porsche , named by my son after his favourite car ! :-)
When I got my first GSD (in 1978) I was "told" by the rest of the family he was going to be called Wolfie however as we were going to collect him David Essex was on the radio talking about his role as Che Guavera in Evita, and I decided as he was going to be my dog I'd name him and for nearly 15 great years he was Che. Max was named after Russell Crowes' character in the film Gladiator and hopefully he'll live as long and happily as Che
We have got into a habit of calling them all something beginning with T - our latest little man looked like a bear, so we called him Teddy, or Ted, or Tedward ! Our other girls are Tilly and Tara, and we had a Topper.

I would now like a Tula, or Trilby!
I love hearing all these names! I had decided on Jack ong before we got our Collie, and when I went to get him she told me they had named him "Teddy" because of his teddy-bear ears. My partner laughed though and said it was definitely Jack, and it does suit him...>Short and sweet, like him!

Our tabby is Diego, I named him after watching Ice Age (the sabre tooth tiger is Diego). And my two kittens are Raph (short for Raphael) and Jez (short for Jezebel. I just thought that they were cheeky and they suited them! ;-)
first ever pet i had were budgies 2 of them and i called the boy budgie -- lol i know and the girl Sarah.

Ive had loads of rabbits
First one i names frosty - cos he was grey he was soo cute
Other one i had i let my mums partners little girl name her and she named her Baker!!! - dont ask me why.

The i got 2 rabbits not knowing they was of each sex i name one 'tootie' and the other 'Fruity' after the song tottie friuty, the boy was fruity and by god he was. They has about 7 litters and yes i did sell them all.

Next i had a kitten and i names her Bella - cos she was so small and cute, the cutest cat i have ever seen even in her full size she was small and she was a russian grey.

Next cat i had i named Toby, cos yes he was a tabby.
My Jack Russell puppy is called Missy as we spent about 3 days squabbling (me and Mr Boo, not me and the dog!) over suitable names and in that time we seem to spend all day going "oi missy, gerroff that"....so it stuck!
Well we have always had our dogs from reque centres and they already come with names. My dog at the moment is called Tyson, although he is a retreiver cross and is the most laziest dog ever! He should have came with the name 'rug' or 'door stop', he just doesn't doooo anything!

Love him though!
