Hi Annlinda,
This has to be one of the best petitions I have put my name to.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Animals are tortured every year with the fireworks.
Thanks again.

Thanks Cruella,
Oh I say, that's the first time i've recieved an email from 10 Downing Street!

As you've gathered- i've signed it, lol.
Signed by me.
I have signed and I have also cross posted the link
Thanks for drawing our attention to this Annlina. I had just contributed to another thread about fireworks under 'Seasonal' and have drawn attention to your thread on there as well.

I expect you will get comments that you are a killjoy, etc, but I agree that fireworks should not be on sale to the general public, any more than toxic chemicals, etc.

Best wishes.
I signed it too - after seeing the way our tamed (ish) feral cats Sooty and Soo were scared by the noise - it is the least that an animal lover can do
Not just animal lovers either. A lot of people, especially the very old and very young and really shaken up by all the bangs. When it was on one night of the year you could be prepared for it, but now fireworks seem to be going off all year round.

Thank you for signing.
Happy to sign. Round our neck of the woods fireworks seem to start around mid October and go until Christmas/New Years and they're becoming a real pain. Nobody wants to be a killjob, but quite apart from terrifying animals and elderly people, they are just getting into the wrong hands and being used as another form of anti-social behaviour in our streets and public places.
Can someone clarify what it means. Although we did enjoy a display at my dads house on sunday I think fireworks should be for licensed individuals to use only and certainly not on two for one at ASDA but I think only certain dates is a bit ermm OTT and that would never get the go ahead. I knwo people who have them at the end of weddings and things, new years, bonfire night etc etc.... Surely if they were for only just licensed individuals and warnings had to be given out within a certain distance of a display happening.
As everybody has said it's not just one day it goes on for days, and the louts who get ther hands on them, I mean did you see the CCTV footage earlier in the week were some thug set of a multi rocket firework in a paper shop. the fact is fireworks are dangerous and can be fatal if not used properly and should not be available to the general public
Goodsoulette, I think that the licenced people that can buy them should be the only ones that can use them and these people could be hired for anything like weddings, etc., much like a disc jockey. They could then just put a small notice in the local papers for the public to see.

Recently received an email with this petition & signed it then.

Let's hope common sense prevails!
A very good link (and not just for animal lovers)

I totally agree with you Annlinda, and my names on it, but what I fail to understand, is why some councils have banned Bonfires, I believe due to Global Warming, but not Fireworks.
I have done it, fortunately my lot now arnt bothered by the fireworks, but I my other two were, and it was awful as my girls teeth used to chatter, poor little souls. I wonder about the wild life too.
i dont have any pets at the moment but am petrified of fireworks so you would get my vote either way, so ive signed k.
Ive signed, the sooner they are banned the better GypsyX
Have signed it would hope there is some good news from this, the poor animals including my own which suffer so from these loud bangs, they are not just like normal fireworks they get louder with each passing year.
