Slippery hamster!

I got a hamster in march after my last one died. I have not been able to get her out much though because as soon as i pick her up she throws herself out of my hands!She is so slippery and agile i cant keep a hold of her+have to scoop her back in the cage!my last hamster would crawl aroud the sofa but i cant do this with her!What can i do?

can you let her sniff your hand and feed her while she is still in the cage? When she associates your hand with food, offer her tidbits on our open hand so that she has to climb onto your hand to get them. once she is happy to sit on your open hand then she can learn to be held and carried. Take it slowly, your previous pet knew you for a long time and this one doesn't!!

i have a hamster that was just like yours when i first got her. id try to pick her up and she would jump back into her cage straight away. each day i made a point of getting her out of her cage with a really good grip and just held her for about 2-3 mins at a time and she is absolutely fine with me now. it does take a while tho for them to get used to being handled. so just get hold of the little beggar
