cat keeps lifting front paw
4 Answers
my cat is about 10 months old. we went away over xmas, and on the day we left we noticed she was lifting her front paw slightly when sitting down. we checked it over, no lumps or swelling, or anything to pick up on. we're back after a week and she's still doing it. she's fine otherwise, and runs and plays fine. she doesn't seem uncomfortable when we press her paw. i dont mind taking her to the vets, but any suggestions as to ehy shes doing it? thanks

One of my cats, Kacey does exactly the same! She will just sit there and life one of her front paws in to the air, she has done it for a long time, no idea why! I think its her little way of looking posh, as she is very much the madam of the house!
Id say, if you cant see any problems with the paw, and she isnt uncomfortable in anyway, i'd think it is likely to just be one of many quirks that cats have!

One of my cats does it frequently. It makes her look very ladylike. If there is no swelling, and it is not painful then I would not worry. But just keep checking for a while longer. I would have thought that a week was long enough to see if there was any evidence of injury or infection.
We had a male persian who, for the first two years we had him often limped and held a paw up. We were always taking him to the vet for it. The vet never did finf anything wrong with him. After about two years he stopped doing it . Total mystery!
