Does anyone elses cat like to drink from the toilet? This sounds really gross but my cat is quite obsessed with drinking water from anywhere else but his water bowl. If I am sat on the toilet, he watches me and as soon as it is flushed he jumps up and then drinks from it! (even if I have done a stinky poo!!) He also likes the sink and the bath and once fell in a full bath which was rather funny to watch, well he didn't think so but we did!

my cat drank form the bath tub too, but the toilet is gross. I think it's normal ,but if your really worried about it, tell your mom about it or take it to a vet or something.

it's ok it made me laugh, now I read back my question the bit about a stinky poo does make me sound like a child I was just trying to be funny, you made me giggle for ages thinking about telling my mom!!
so like i was saying if your worried about it take your cat to the vet. I on the other hand think that is normal.
The reason they do this is because tap water that comes from your kitchen comes from the mains and contains chlorine. Cats don't like the smell of it. I can't stand it either which is why I drink bottled water. Anyway, I digress. What I do is give them water from the hot water tap in the bathroom. I fill up their bowls everyday and leave them on the landing.
I have a fear of my cats drowning in the loo, so I keep the lid down. If they were to slip in head first, it might be hard for them to get a purchase on the porcelin to get back out. I always keep a bowl full of water, filled with tap water, (or rain), outside for them.
It's normal. Dogs do this too ,and exactly as you describe of your cat ('gross').It may be that the fresh water is colder than other water but the betting is that it just tastes better.
Heya my cats do this too! I tend to keep the lid down at all times now though! Thought it was just our 3 that were being like it seems its just cats in general! Nothing to worry about no need for a vet or anything just keep the lid down incase they try and do it when theres cleaning products in there etc :)
My friend thought his cat was doing that for a couple of weeks as he would occasionally find paw prints on the seat - but he thought he was going mad, every now and then when he went to the toilet it appeared he'd forgotten to flush it. Then one day he caught his fluffy pussycat, and you will not believe this, delicately squatting on the loo seat doing a feline wee wee. Mystery solved! Obviously not the mystery of his cat's human complex though...
I wish my cats would use the loo! No more cleaning out litter trays....Heaven! The only time I have seen this is in that film Meet the Fockers. Robert De Niros persian cat did this.My cats love to drink from a dripping tap, but not the loo.
My cat will drink water from anywhere except her water bowl: flower vases, sink water, puddles, etc. and the water I keep by my bed at night. I only found out about the bedside water when I went to reach for the glass in the dark one night and grabbed her head instead. I now have to have a jug with a lid!!!
lol, im laughing at lottie grabbing a cat's head instead of her glass- bet that woke you up fully!
It'll teach me to let the cats have the run of the house at night, BOO. (Wouldn't be without my dogs and cats though!)
I was shocked to see my cat doing this and then worried that she might have been doing it when bleach was down there so i bought her one of these she loves it. ....http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Luxury-Water-Drinking-Fo untain-Purifier-for-cats_W0QQitemZ150201187679 QQihZ005QQcategoryZ66764QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ 1QQcmdZViewItem
