i got both my 5 month old cats speyed/neutered yesterday. they both seem fine and lively but the little girl hasnt eaten since she came home. Whereas the little boy wont stop. We have been given special pouches for them for easy digestion for last night and this morning and she just wont touch them, goes near it and turns her nose and walks away. do i need to call the vets about this? thanks

Have you tried her with some finely minced chicken or fish? With some cats it takes a little while to get their appetite back - perhaps she felt grotty after the anaesthetic!
You might have more luck if you warm it slightly. Cats usually go by sense of smell when foods concerned, warming it will make it smell a bit stronger.
When I had my cats done I was told to give them lightly steamed chicken or fish to eat ~ no tins, as their tummies are delicate after the op.

I was also told that loss of appetite is normal afterwards, for a day or so.

I would try a lighter meal, and not worry about it unless it lasts a bit longer :o)
Your girl cat has undergone a more major operation than your little boy. Such is life - us girls are more complicated (and intelligent) than boys! :-)

By the time you read this she will probably be back to scoffing her food.

Hi, thanks for all your answers. I tried her with a very small amount of kitten pouched food as its smaller peices and she ate that fine so i gave her the rest throughout the night in small amounts to make sure she wasnt going to be sick. The vets said i could put dried food down last night and they seem to be eating that fine. Thanks for you help, like you said she has gone through more than my lil boy and so was probably feeling delicate. Thanks again
