I was told to get a crate when I first got a pup & I really regret doing it. She whimpered for most of the first couple of nights until I popped her in a small open box next to my bed (just to keep her safe & prevent her from peeing all over the bedroom!) and she slept all thro the night because she could hear me & smell that I was right next to her.
a lot of people crate train their puppies saffstar. Providing it is done correctly and the pup is not couped up in there all day ,has access to water and the crate is not to small then it can be a good way to stop the puppy from chewing the house , and also helps with toliet training.
you could start off by putting your pup in there only at its meal times to start with so the pup associates the crate a nice place to be in. once the pup has finished his meal take out and let him out for a wee and poo and pehaps have a play. Just take your time do not put in and leave for a long time as this will make the problem worse, you need to make the crate as comfortable as possible ie , bed, some toys and chews etc if the pup ever goes in on its own accord then lots of praise and a treat. good luck!
