Cockroach? I very much doubt if there's only one.
mongolian gerbils can pretty much survive without water if they have to. This was infact my dissertation topic, (oh the excitement of an animal physiology degree!!!)).
rabbits, koalas, fieldmice.... there are lots of animals that never have to drink water.
scorpions
Guess you're not really asking about insects, but most spiders can go for months on end virtually comatose in a dusty corner, until you suddenly disturb them and find out they're still alive..!! :o)
I would think that all animals/insects that live in dry desert regions are able to survive long amounts of time without water.
Just like to point out that insects are animals - I'll get me anorak!
most tropical anthropods!!!
Rats. They and cockroaches are the only things living to survive a nuclear bomb.
I think you mean just mammals... Lots of small desert mammals (including gerbils) can live on little or no liquid water. They get water from juicy food, and from "metabolic water" -- some water is released even from dry food together with the energy (JillS will tell you how...). They can get by on so little because their urine is very concentrated. Some even have a paste of uric acid crystals, instead of a watery solution of urea like us, dogs, horses etc. This is much more efficient, but they have to have much bigger kidneys. Birds, spiders and many other animals also have uric acid urine -- it's the white stuff in bird droppings. Many mammals drink very little except when producing milk -- sheep for example, if they're on lush grass. Incidentally, both brown and black rats do need liquid water.
do you mean what animal that needs water but can go longest without it? i think a red kangaroo or somthing like that
