Oh my god someone help me!!

hello anyone,hi im mike I have a little problem with my dog you see the thing is that just 3 days ago we got this new puppy. Its a cocker spaniel. you see my older 5 year old cocker spaniel has been with us for quite some time now, and the thing is he wont eat a lot like he used to and he gets real angry when the puppy gets near him. also this new puppy requires a-lot of attention so i was wondering how i can make my old dog not feel displaced and sad . By the way they are both males and they are both neutered. i need someone to help me asap p.s i forgot to say that my older dog doesnt listen to me anymore and that worries me but at times he does.
oh but my both dogs like each other SOMETIMES.

forgot to say some males won't take to other male dogs. My dachy accpeted our cocker spaniel because she's female-he would never allow a male in the house

Your older dog feels threatened. His position as the only and thus "alpha" male is under threat. You will need to understand why your older dog is behaving as he is to deal with him. I think the previous suggestion that you post your problem on the dogpages forum is your best bet. Good luck.

No different really to bringing a new baby into the household when you have another young child. Their will be jealousy and unreasonable behaviour. Some vetinerary practices will give excellent advice on how to deal with this.

Believe me with the right handling, things will get better.

Just make sure that when friends and relations call they don't make too much fuss of the new puppy, or at least tell them to make a fuss of your older dog first.
