I recently asked a question about help with vet fees, well the PDSA, could not help me as I do not receive any benifits only the state pension. Well my little cat had her treatment she had a lot of tartar build up on her molars, she had the treatment on Monday 11th, unfortunatly, on Tuesday she was rushed back to the Vets as she was struggling to breath she has been kept in the vets since she was diagnosed with pneumonia, so it is abit off a worrying time. My vet is going to let me pay the cost of all this treatment over a period of time.

I remember your previous post west ham fan. I am so sorry to hear this. You must be so worried. My elderly cat has tartar build up too but I won't let her have the recommended operation because of the effects of anaesthetic. Vets are very quick to recommend teeth cleaning. It's very lucrative to them.

I know this doesn't help, but it seems to me as if your cat may have pneumonia as a result of the anaesthetic. It might be worth discussing this with your vet to ask if they can help you by not charging for all this extra treatment. Tell them you are a pensioner.

I sincerely hope that your dear cat makes a complete recovery. Keep us postedxxx

I am so sorry to hear about your cat.
I rremember your post about it.
It is a pity you did not contact the Cats Protection League as they would have helped.
Still surprised that the PDSA would not treat your cat as a pension is not much of an income.
Anyway, glad that the Vet has agreed to accept payment spread out.

Oh dear. I'm sure your cat'll receive the best of attention. Some of mine've had pneumonia before - and lived to tell the tale, so good luck. x

Cruella has mentioned the Cats Protection League which has made me think that it might still be a good idea to get in touch with them and explain exactly what has happened. They are usually very helpful. It's well worth a try.

Oh you are trying to do your best for this cat and I feel so sorry for your problems with payment.Do as others have said and please contact PDSA again ,they just might give a little for your bill I hope.Good luck and hope all goes well for your lass.g.

I too remember your orignal post. So glad to hear that your vet is sympathetic and has a heart. So sorry to hear about your cats pneumonia. I hope she makes a full recovery. please let us know. I am surprised that the PDSA would not help you. I would have thought that being on a pension would qualify. I am sure the RSPCA will give preferential rates to pensioners. have you tried them?
When your cat has recovered I would seriously look at ways to prevent this tartar build up again. I had a cat who had this problem. He had to have his teeth cleaned 4 times in his first 6 years. Then the vet recommended LOGIC ENZYMATIC TOOTHPASTE. It will not get rid of existing tartar, but will help prevent tartar building up in the future. I used it on my problem cat and he lived for another 6 years without ever needing his teeth cleaned again. I use it daily on all my cats now and never have any oral hygeine problems with them. It is not a gimmick, as so many pet products are, it works!!!!! It costs less than a fiver from VET UK ( just google them. They are much cheaper than your vet and postage is quick and free. It will be the best fiver you ever spent on your cat. You do not have to brush their teeth lol. You just put a blob of it in her mouth every night. If you are lucky she will lickm it off your finger like mine do. They love it and they think they are getting a treat. i know how tight your finances are and I would not urge you to spend money on this If it did not work. Enough said.
