For his breed though it is one of the things they are known for. He is nearly 4 and will always do it. Bit of a B******* though as we live in a rented house lol!
Apparently our boy does it as where he is from (he is a Samoyed), when they were working in the snow, they would dig holes in the snow to sleep in to keep warm.
So we have more of a giant foot deep hole in the garden!
I would try the sandpit idea, but with 7 cats, it would much more likely be used as a giant litter tray!

can i ask you a another question?
i am baby sitting this pup and he is only 14 weeks old and has tendency to bite a lot and i think he is teething but i have noticed he is becoming more aggressive then ever despite playing with him with his soft toys.

Hi rocklolo, not sure what to advise on the digging...we have a concrete yard!
As far as biting goes, as soon as puppy digs his teeth in, make a loud yelping noise (as if you are mortally wounded-really ham it up!) and stop interacting with him. Start the game or cuddle again when he settles down, and repeat the process each time he bites. He will soon learn that such biting is unacceptable.
I am told that normally his littermates would help him in this, so you have to be a littermate substitute, teaching him, through play, that he can't bite! 14 weeks is just about the time he will be testing his boundaries, so make sure you are firm but fair!
Please don't ever hit him-hands must give, not take away or hurt (and please don't think I am assuming you would hit him!)
