As you probably already know, I am buying a hamster, but I dont know whether to buy a male or a female. If you have a lot of expeirience with hamsters, or if you know from a website which is best, please let me know so I make the right choice.

Hi kelikool!
From experience I have found girls tend to smell more.
I have 2 hamsters at the moment, both male. Stormy is 3 years old and Commando is 9 months. We had a male previous to getting Commando, he was called Buddy and lived til just before his 5th birthday. Before that I had a female called Bailey and before her I had a male called Harley. I love Hamsters (in case you hadn't guessed! Lol!) hope you get a lovely one. Here is a website I found, hope it's useful. Daffi x

I have found girls urine smells a lot stronger than a males too.
This website also has a lot of useful information, including a forum where you can ask questions and discuss just about anything hamster related

Hi - I found the opposite - the boy smelt a lot more the the girl I had. The girl was cleaner and used a potty. The boy was very cheeky though and followed us everywhere, but the girl was quiet and just happy to be in her cage and pop out for the odd pet.
