My dog (a 2 year old labrador retriever) has recently developed a small patch on his left side where the hair is much thinner. It's not quite bald but there is definitely less hair. I was wondering if there are any possible illnesses this could be a symptom of. Note that his appetite and behavior haven't changed.

I would keep an eye on it and see if it worsens, it could be any number of things to do with his skin, it could also be ringworm, is it irritating him? Although it may be that he has just caught it and the hair will grow back within a few weeks.
Would it be mange?
i have a labrador retreiver and she has a self harming problem it is either her tummy or her leg but you tent to find that it is mainly habit. the best thing to do is talk to your vet as it could end up being more serious ( i am not good at spelling) but if you notice your dog doing this chewing, et, try and distract your dog take it for a walk or is it doing this because its being left alone? any time i saw my dog self harming as i put it it i distracted her and it helped by breaking the habit
