why is it that so many girls are scared of spiders? i mean they are tiny little harmless things.

I haven't got a clue holly coffin. Spiders don't bother me at all, but put me in a room with a cat and i'd freak out big time! It isn't just women though, I have a friend who is a 6' 5" well built guy and his wife has to deal with any insects in the house!

i think it is because they are ugly! I am absolutely terrified of them to the point where I start hyperventilating if I see one!! I have no idea why they make me like this because all through my childhood they never bothered me and I would pick them up and rescue them out of the bath. It is only since I have become an adult I have been frightened of them and my 3 yr old who has never seen my reaction to spiders is also frightened too

I'm no longer a little girl and I'm petrified of them *shudder*. There was one in my bedroom earlier this week and it was doing a good impression of a tarantula. Anyway, I put a glass over it thinking I'd get my brother to remove it from my house the next time he's round, however, it appears to have died through lack of oxygen, and I feel bad about it :(

I still haven't moved it though, I still don't want to touch it. I hooverd around the glass last night LOL

some are not harmless and they can grow to a very big size.
I myself are scared of spiders but lots of people (male and female) are scared of spiders, others arent. Its not like people can choose what their scared of.

Not every girl/woman are scared of spiders.My daughter and granddaughter and myself love them.Very wonderful to watch and oh those webs are fantastic.I have a big house spider who we see most nights doing his/her rounds in the house, and do remember the saying.... If you want to live and thrive let a spider stay alive.Very true they get rid of those nasty dirty flies.g

I don't mind spiders at all. They don't scare me, however I can't go near a worm. I have a severe phobia of them. Its they way they look and wriggle! shudders
